Happy TUESDAY!!!

What a great day!!! The sun was shining & the weather was awesome in Greensboro today! And my clients totally ROCK! I am truly blessed to be surrounded every day by so much amazing energy & people who genuinely want to get BETTER! It just doesn’t get any better than that! Speaking of…I saw this quote today and it really had an impact on me:

“I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own efforts.” ~John D Rockefeller

This quote speaks volumes to me on a personal level, not necessarily just in dollar sense. For me, it’s not about the dollar. I mean, of course I want to make money…but more importantly I want to change lives! I am driven to have a positive impact on as many lives as humanly possible. But if I live long & strong to be 100, what good is it if I don’t have 100 others with me??? Think about how the efforts of 100 people affect YOUR life. In the end, one person can only accomplish so much…but 100 people can move mountains!

The Dailey HEALTH Tip: PEPPERMINT! It’s commonly known that this little herb is a great cure for bad breath, can ease nausea, & makes for a soothing/relaxing tea…but there are numerous other health benefits of peppermint. Did you know that it can also relieve GI disorders, soothe headaches, help combat the cold, flu & sore throats, & reduce skin irritation from insect bites, rashes, & bouts with poison ivy/oak? Use peppermint oils on the skin to reduce inflammation, inhale peppermint to relieve sinus pressure, & chew on peppermint leaves or drink it in tea to attach the digestive system & stomach problems! (It’s also fantastic in a Mojito!)

CLASS UPDATE: Functional Flex is still hanging by a thread at 9:30 on Wed!!! If you support this class and want to see it stay on the schedule…prove it! Come tomorrow! 🙂 Attendance over the next couple of weeks is crucial to the survival of this class! The option to this class being debated now is to change the Wed class to a FITNESS class – OR – put a 9:30 Fitness/Flex class on Mondays instead! Your vote counts…so let me know if you have an opinion (& which class you would prefer)!

Functional Fitness a 6pm Wed!! Can’t wait to see this awesome group crush another great workout! Are YOU coming?!

Monday! Does it have to set the tone for the week?

Ever have one of those days that starts out challenging from the moment you hit the snooze button on your alarm? Today was THAT kind of day for me! The horrific sound of the alarm caught me in such a deep state of sleep that I literally JUMPED. Almost dreadfully, I dragged myself to the bathroom to get ready to MOTIVATE my Monday 6am functional fitness crew…only to arrive at the club to find NO KEYS to the building in my possession! The balmy 29 degree temp outside was not enticing for an outdoor workout & the thought of bagging the class all together did cross my mind for a split second. But how would my negative mindset affect someone else’s day? I’ll tell you! If my class members drug themselves out of bed only to arrive & find their class cancelled…they too would have gotten their day off on the wrong foot. And the odds of their negative start to the day could have affected everyone in their path, and the snowball effect could have gone on endlessly! So I had a CHOICE to make… figure out a way to turn a negative into a positive, or ruin countless other people’s day. Thankfully there is a key box with a spare key to the club outside, so we got in! I still didn’t have the key to my closet of “tricks”, but at least we were INSIDE! We had a CHALLENGING & unplanned “No Equipment Necessary” workout & everyone’s day was off to a great start!

I tell you this story to remind you that you have a CHOICE about how your day will turn out each and every day. How will you CHOOSE the outcome of your week to be?

CLASS UPDATE: Tonight, 6pm…I WILL have my key & we WILL have equipment out! Get ready for a high energy workout! Tomorrow, we’ll get after it again with 2 morning Functional Fitness classes at 6am & 9:30am…followed by an reviving FLEX class at 6pm! If you are coming to flex, I’d LOVE to know ahead of time what ails you so I can tailor the class to meet YOUR needs!

The Dailey TOOTHACHE Tip: CHEW ON A CLOVE! Since I have several clients with some dental issues going on…here’s a fun tip I found for a natural remedy to soothe the pain! Put a whole clove in your mouth, moisten it and bite down once or twice. The essential oil that’s released has been show to have both analgesic and antibacterial properties, which can be particularly helpful in case bacteria instigated the toothache. I can’t say that I have tried this to tell you it works, so let me know if you try it and it works!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Hope you are having a SUPER day!

The football game of the year is only a few hours away. Have you ever wondered how many calories the average person will consume today? I have, so I searched it out….and found that it’s an astonishing 4,000 calories!!! WOW!!! Want to know how long it will take to burn that off? At LEAST 8 hours of calorie crushing Dailey Fitness Functional Fitness classes! And that’s just to burn off the excess you consume today…not to mention your daily exercise requirement for your weight loss & weight maintaining goals.

If you aren’t able to make good choices with nutrition today…come sweat it off with me tomorrow!! 2 Functional Fitness classes on Monday: 6am & 6pm!

Start the week STRONG with a 6am workout! Yes folks, I will BE THERE @ 6am! I’m counting on my regulars not to leave me hanging in the am!

It’s the LAST day of January!

Hard to believe that we are a month into the New Year! Now is a GREAT time to reassess your ‘resolutions’ & goals you set for yourself at the end of 2012. Are you staying committed to them? Are you EXCEEDING your own expectations? If you didn’t answer YES to those questions…it’s NOT to late to turn things around. The truth is that this is about the time that most “resolutioners” give up & quit. DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN TO YOU! Tomorrow embarks a brand new month filled with opportunity to CRUSH your personal goals. Need some help gaining momentum? Reach out & let me know! The DAILEY CHALLENGE: JOIN THE STUDY GROUP! Cancer Research Study that is! (See attached flyer for details). If you could prevent even one person from hearing the words, “you have cancer,” would you? Now is your chance! The American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) is enrolling participants. Help us save lives, and celebrate a world with more birthdays. This is a FREE study & is unbelievably easy to participate. All you do is make an appt with the local ACS office, fill out a questionnaire, & donate a vile of blood…and they do the rest! I enrolled 2 years ago, and am doing my part to get a few more folks involved before they close enrollment. The deadline to enroll in the Greensboro office is Feb 8th (Next Friday!). Go to www.cps3Triad.org to make your appointment & get it set up. If you are not in Guilford co. you can still participate with your local ACS office. It could very well save lives!!!

CLASS UPDATE: EARN SOME BROWNIE POINTS!!! ANYONE that signs joins the CPS-3 Study gets an extra FREE in Feb!!! Let me know who you are! This is an anonymous study, so no one will be letting me know you signed up.

WACKED OUT WEATHER WEDNESDAY!!!

Happy Hump Day everyone! Hope you are halfway to reaching your weekly TOP 5 goals!

STAY FOCUSED! Direct your attention to where it is needed MOST. There will be countless interruptions & distractions today that might lead you down the wrong path. Remember that some things CAN wait, and be sure to keep your priorities in the right order.

The Dailey PAIN RELIEF Tip: ARNICA CREAM! Arnica is actually a flower in the sunflower family & has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1500s. In the form of a gel, ointment or cream, it can alleviate muscle aches and speed the healing of bruises and wounds. Compounds within the plant help to promote blood flow at the surface of the skin. Note that this homeopathic remedy won’t work on joint pain or open wounds! You can find Arnica cream at Earthfare, Whole Foods, and even some grocery/drug stores. Approx $6-8/tube…and it really does work!

Hello BEAUTIFUL People!!!

WHAT an amazing day! It is fantastic outside (at least is is here in Greensboro)! If you haven’t gotten out there for even a quick minute…you’ve gotta do it! Freezing rain yesterday – 66 & sunny today…can we say “SPRING FEVER”?!?! I Get it while it lasts!

What are the dominant thoughts that consume you from day to day? Do you constantly struggle to get the results you want, or to reach your goals? Maybe there is a correlation to consider. Get your mindset RIGHT! Worry, fear, anxiety, & anger waste precious energy that we could be using to progress. Let go of the things you cannot control & focus more energy on the things you CAN control!

The Dailey LONG LIFE Tip: EAT APPLES!!! An apple a day just might really keep the Dr. away! Apples may be the ultimate longevity MVP! They are loaded with fiber, antioxidants, folate and vitamin E to fight Alzheimer’s, and a flavonoid called quercetin that protects the brain against the oxidative stress of daily life. Happy Monday!!!

Negative thoughts & people are TOXIC! If you are SERIOUS about living & being your BEST, try surrounding yourself with people that bring out the BEST in you! Get rid of a limiting belief system, and keep the “Negative Nans” at a safe distance. The mind is a powerful tool, and it can make us or break us. CHOOSE to let your mind CREATE the life you seek!

The “W.O.W.” is INTEGRATE! What are you doing today to INTEGRATE a positive mindset into your ACTIONS?

The Dailey OPTIMAL HEALTH Tip: DRINK MORE WATER!!! To put it simply, water is the lubricant of the body. Drink enough water, and you’ll move like a well-oiled machine. Deplete your body of water, and you’ll freeze up like and engine with an oil leak. Needless to say, it’s of vital importance! Proper hydration will maintain your metabolism, prevent foggy vision, and combat forgetfulness. A good rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces every day! YES, THAT MUCH! That means a 200 lb person should be consuming 100 ounces per day. Your body needs water to survive, yet a good portion of our population gets the bare minimum each day to function. Drink more & your body will function at a higher level. And don’t worry about the bladder. The first few days will be tough. However, the more hydrated you are, the LESS you will have to pee as your body will utilize the water & it will be absorbed instead of expelled. Bottoms up!

CLASS UPDATE: If you are still on the “month to month” payment plan & haven’t signed up to pay for your classes with an EFT (electronic funds transfer) commitment…let’s get you signed up! Let’s face it, you know you are coming back next month, and the next….because you are getting RESULTS! Otherwise, you would have left already! Let’s make the process easier with an automatic debit/credit payment every month. Beginning Feb 1, in order to continue at your current per month rate, EFT is required. You can still choose to pay month to month, for a premium. (See price sheet attached for details) With EFT, NOTHING CHANGES! Besides, when you commit to the long term payment plan…you are committing to your long term goals!

Happy Sunday!

If you didn’t know already, my motto is to always strive to be 1% BETTER, every day! When I saw this quote by Maya today, it made me think about how important those words really are. We only truly know our personal best as it is right up until today. But there is NOTHING that says our personal best can’t be ever improving! Think of your biggest accomplishment last week. Now that you know THAT personal best achievement, what can you do to make it even BETTER?!

The “W.O.W.” is INTEGRATE: Total health is an integration, a combination, of many efforts coming together for one common goal. We can’t simply eat a perfect diet & expect total health, nor can we workout obsessively without properly fueling our bodies & expect great results. The truth is, total health is a combination of good nutrition, regular strength/cardio training, flexibility work, rest, & proper hydration! Ignoring any of these aspects will throw everything off balance. What can you INTEGRATE this week more effectively to create more balance in your total health?

BRRRRRRRR!

Strong words to remind us to stay focused as we push forward to reach our goals & create change in any aspect of our lives.

The Dailey ARTHRITIS FIGHTING Tip: GREEN TEA! Studies show that certain antioxidant compounds in the brew lessen the incidence and severity of arthritis. It works by lowering the production of inflammation-causing substances in the body that can cause joint damage. As if there weren’t enough reasons to drink green tea…you can now add one more to the list! 3-4 cups a day. Skip the decaffeinated version, which robs the tea of some of the helpful nutrients. Although it won’t make your arthritis pain go away…it can help!

CLASS UPDATE: GAME ON TOMORROW!!! With the winter weather moving in later in the day on Friday, both the 6am & 9:30am Functional Fitness classes are in the clear! Let’s end the work week STRONG by getting the workout behind you early! Let’s face it, if the weather does turn ugly tomorrow afternoon…there is a good likelihood that you will blow your workout off! Now as soon as I say the coast is clear for us…something could change. Be sure to check your email before class just to be sure there are no changes-just in case! I will post any cancellations/delays via email.
